family day out

Brighten up Bonfire Night

Remember, remember, the 5th of November is nearly upon us once again. And with the whole country lighting up in celebration, the kids will certainly expect to be colourfully entertained! But fear not nervous parents, we’ve got you covered. Here are just a few ideas for how to keep children entertained with Bonfire Night family events in and around Manchester.

Why not go for a fun day out with the whole family on Sunday 1st November? Head to the Trafford Centre for some retail therapy (maybe even some early Christmas shopping for the organised ones?) and then enjoy their spectacular free firework display from 6.30pm. The sky above Barton Square will be lit up with a multitude of fiery creations!

If you feel that no firework extravaganza is complete without a funfair, then you can breathe a sigh of relief, as this year you’re spoiled for choice. Why not drop by Platt Fields Park on Thursday 5th November from 5pm onwards to enjoy a bustling funfair followed by a spectacular firework display. With entrance completely free, what’s not to like? If Wythenshawe Park is closer to your neck of the woods, then pop over there instead for a similar experience.

For those desperately seeking a little something extra for their kids, why not try Cheadle’s Big Bang at Cheadle College. Gates open at 5.30pm on Saturday 7th November, and with a children’s fancy dress competition, fireworks display and bonfire, there should be plenty to keep the whole family entertained all evening! Tickets cost £7 on the gate, but to get them at a slightly cheaper price order in advance.

Trying to perfectly team up quality child entertainment with a little something for the adult? Look no further than the Horse and Jockey Pub in Chorlton. Pop over on Thursday 5th November in time for the kids’ firework display at 6pm and enjoy a barbecue and outdoor bar for the parents! Bear in mind that children are welcome only until 8pm. Alternatively, head to Bowdon Club on the same day from 6pm. Fireworks, rides and amusements for the kids – bonfire, barbecue and bar for the adults. Sorted! Tickets will go on sale shortly at www.bowdonclub.com priced £10 for adults and £5 for kids.

After all that, you’ve surely managed to find a great event (or two) to keep your family occupied this Bonfire Night. Hope it’s a good one!

I love bonfire night but I think they shouldn’t sell fireworks in the shops, I think their should be just organised displays.
