Shaun the Sheep Circus Show – Shear Delight for All Ages
My daughter has been asking to go to a circus for years, and my son is an avid Shaun the Sheep fan-so when we spotted the Shaun the Sheep Circus Show at Aviva Studios, part of Factory International, it was a no-brainer. We booked tickets without a second thought and hoped for the best. Thankfully, the experience was anything but woolly.
It was our first visit to Factory International, a fantastic, multipurpose venue in the heart of Manchester city centre. Even getting there felt like part of the adventure: taking the tram is still a novelty for the children and set the tone for the day. We went along with my aunt and uncle visiting from London, as well as my brother and his family, making it a proper ‘flock’ outing.
From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. They happily directed us to our seats, pointed out the all-important toilets (essential knowledge for parents of young children), and clearly explained the running time – two 40-minute acts with a 20-minute interval. In a lovely touch, the staff were dressed in sheep-adjacent attire, and one even gave the children a cheerful “baa,” which went down a treat.
Our seats were impressively comfortable with plenty of legroom, and booster seats were available for toddlers, something we gratefully made use of. Small details like this made the whole experience feel thoughtfully designed for families.
The show itself follows a loose narrative centred around the Farmer from Shaun the Sheep and the animals on his farm, the Farmer’s Sky dish gives out due to some woolly hijinks, and so Shaun and friends opt to put on a show!

With very little spoken dialogue, the show is highly accessible and inclusive, and refreshingly chill. The music and colour palette are engaging without being overwhelming – proof that a family show doesn’t need to be over-stimulating to keep everyone hooked.
Both children were utterly transfixed – and so were the adults -especially during moments when performers soared across the stage, supported only by fabric wrapped around their feet. It was breathtaking, and you could hear a collective gasp ripple through the audience.
The verdicts at the end were unanimous. My uncle (in his seventies) declared it the best show he’d seen in years, while my six-year-old daughter awarded it a wholehearted “10 out of 10.” High praise indeed.
All in all, the Shaun the Sheep Circus Show is a beautifully balanced, family-friendly performance that’s full of heart, humour, and skill. Whether you’re young, old, or just a little bit sheepish about circus shows, this one is well worth flocking to (until 4th January 2026).
