Pupils at The Manchester Grammar School are celebrating an impressive set of A-level results, with many now preparing to take their next steps at universities across the UK and beyond.
Overall, 32% of grades were awarded at A*, with 69% at A*-A and 92% at A*-B. Thirty-three pupils achieved three or more A* grades, while 108 achieved three or more A grades. Twenty-three pupils have secured places at Oxford or Cambridge, while 47 received offers to study Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science.
Among those celebrating is Sri, who achieved four A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and will now study Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge. His achievements have also been recognised with the F.J. Woods Studentship, typically awarded to high-achieving incoming Mathematics students at Trinity.
Sri has enjoyed considerable success in academic competitions during his time at MGS. He achieved first place in the International Linguistics Olympiad and was among the top 12 performers in the UK in the second round of the UK Linguistics Olympiad, earning a place at its residential training camp this summer. He previously represented the UK at the International Linguistics Olympiad in Taiwan in 2025. His achievements in Mathematics include Bronze and Silver awards in the British Mathematical Olympiad, as well as being named Best in Region. Away from his academic work, he has also completed Grade 8 piano with ABRSM.
Three other pupils are heading to Cambridge to study Natural Sciences.
Giuseppe, who will study Biological Natural Sciences at St John’s College, achieved four A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. Alongside his academic achievements, he has been involved in music as a member of the MGS choir and the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, and was a Young Analyst Regional Winner and Gold medallist in the Biology Olympiad.
Ben, who joined MGS in the Junior School, studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. Outside the classroom, he achieved his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, sailed with the RYA Youth Sailing Regional Team and is a Scout leader.
Viyom, also a former Junior School pupil, studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and will study Physical Natural Sciences at Cambridge. His achievements include Gold in the British Physics Olympiad Round 1 and Silver in Round 2, as well as Gold in the Chemistry Olympiad. He was also part of the Cambridge Chemistry Race Team, which finished fourth nationally.
For outgoing
School Captain Donté, his A-level results have been accompanied by a change in direction. Having originally planned to study Physics, work experience over the summer inspired him to pursue a degree in Real Estate at the University of Manchester, with a particular interest in the potential for a future career in sustainable property development.
During his time at MGS, Donté has taken an active role in school life, serving as School Captain and President of the African and Caribbean Society. He is also passionate about the importance of recognising every pupil as an individual. As the only boy from his primary school to attend MGS, this is something that has been particularly meaningful to him.

I am absolutely delighted that the hard work and dedication of the pupils has been rewarded with excellent grades and that this will enable them to move on to study a diverse range of courses at leading universities. I would like to wish them every success as they take their next exciting steps in their academic journeys.”
With pupils heading on to study subjects ranging from Mathematics and Natural Sciences to Real Estate, the results reflect not only strong academic achievement but also the varied interests and ambitions of this year’s leavers.
