Parent and Child Forest School Workshop for 3 – 7 year-olds

As a concept Forest School began in Scandinavia, where the open-air culture, friluftsliv, or free air life, was seen as a way of life. It arrived to the UK in 1993 and has been growing in popularity ever since.

This year Greenbank Preparatory School in Cheadle Hulme is running a free parent and child Forest School workshop on Wednesday, June 8th between 1:30pm and 3:00pm. The session will be led by the qualified Forest School teachers and will go ahead whatever the weather!

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to meet Greenbank’s Forest School teachers and…

  • 🐛 Make bug hotels
  • 🍀 Explore school’s Forest School area
  • 🕵️♂️ Become a bug detective
  • 🔥 Listen to a story around a fire with hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Forest School is a child-centred learning process, that offers chances for holistic development. Holistic means ‘whole’ – and Forest School is about our teachers enabling the development of the whole person. This includes emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, physical, communication and language development.

Through regular sessions, our Forest School teachers aim to develop all the above characteristics in a low-intervention manner to develop confidence and self-esteem. This is built through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

🌲𝓦𝓱𝓸 𝓻𝓾𝓷𝓼 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓕𝓸𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓢𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓸𝓵?
We have three fully qualified Level 3 Forest School teachers, Mrs Bradbury, Mr Hart and Mrs Staples, who develop and run the sessions together.
