The Headmaster of Stockport Grammar Junior School, Mr Tim Wheeler, has been awarded an MBE for services to charity and to education in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
In addition to his work at SGJS, Mr Wheeler has been the Chair of the Little Princess Trust, since 2011. The charity provides real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss, and funds vital research into childhood cancer.
Thirteen years ago Louise Nicholson started Little Superstars as sports classes for under-fives. The next year she added classes for primary school children – and so Superstars Sports Club was born to offer sports activities during the holidays and sports parties all year round. For more than a hundred years Alderley Edge Festival has been a delightful event for people in Cheshire. As Maria Rushton, one of the organises of the Festival-2019 said, “There’s an element of competition but this is much more about bringing people together to share their enjoyment of performing.” A lot of local schools embraced an opportunity to join the ‘wonderful culture of music, speech and drama’ and some of the children won top awards during the festival.

Year 6 pupils from Stockport Grammar Junior School delighted audiences with two supercalifragilisticexpialidocious performances of Disney’s Mary Poppins.
All of the children had the chance to show off their talent in the performances with a variety of roles on offer from lead characters to chimney sweeps, kite flyers and police officers
King’s School Sixth Form students have joined forces with Age UK’s local army of volunteers to empower older people in the community by teaching IT skills to the older generations, using skills that come as second nature to the younger mind but are more difficult to grasp as the years pass.
