Creating Festive Joy (Despite the Pandemic!)

We are waiting for the winter festivities. We always are – some with joy, others with trepidation, some looking forward to holidays abroad, others getting ready for cosy (or messy) family get-togethers. This year, we are also hoping that it will be as close to normal as possible, and worrying that it won’t be. So maybe, with all the unpredictability 2020 has already brought us, just a bit of guidance on how to manage the coming celebrations is what we need right now.

Creating Festive Joy (Despite the Pandemic!) is a new eBook published by Adriana Summers, Associate Fellow British Psychological Society, CPC Registered Psychologist, and EuroPsych Clinical & Health Psychology Practitioner.

Adriana Summers, Associate Fellow British Psychological Society, CPC Registered Psychologist, and EuroPsych Clinical & Health Psychology PractitionerAdriana explains, “Regardless of your culture or traditions, this festive season is going to be like no other. It may be the case that we cannot spend time with our family and friends as we always have done, and you’ll need to pull out all the stops to make it the best time you possibly can. Between now and the festivities, nobody knows whether they’re coming or going, but what we do know is that things can change in a matter of days. This will no doubt increase worries about the upcoming festive period, so we created a booklet of ideas of what to do about Christmas and how to deal with the rising tensions that this particular season might create, in order that you and others do not feel overwhelmed. Normally, we talk about families who are separating, but this book is for everyone.

Adriana, who has more than 30 years of experience in her field, founded Live Life Not Strife, a professional psychology service working with individuals, couples, families, organisations and senior management. It provides bespoke health and wellbeing services including Lifestyle Coaching, Work Mentoring, Individual Therapy, Couples’ Therapy, Bereavement Counselling and Psychological Services. The company works with English-speaking clients in different countries and time zones via Zoom or Skype. Adriana also runs the award-winning Painless Divorce, a collaborative team that helps divorcing couples separate without contentious antagonism and needing to access the Family Courts. Services include round table divorce, parenting & grandparent agreements, avoiding family conflict, preparing for a pre-nup, and a wrap-around support service.

Describing her book, Adriana says, “We’ve taken the 12 Days of Christmas theme and come up with innovative ways to manage this Christmas around the changing restrictions we are currently living under. It’s important to make everyone in the family feel valued and our eBook helps you plan for this time and includes practical solutions, not only for nurturing our children’s emotional resilience, but our own as well. One of the most important things that’s going to get you and your family through this challenging festive period is your mindset. A positive outlook will help you to focus on what’s really important and how you are going to achieve a fun festive season filled with memories to cherish. One of our top tips which you will find in the book is how to extend the festive season to make this Christmas unforgettable, in a good way.
