Christmas at Dunham Massey Lights up with International Sculpture Artists

Christmas at Dunham Massey returns to the historic National Trust property in Cheshire from 22 November – 30 December 2019 with stunning light sculptures being created by award-winning designers from as far afield as Australia.

Now in its third year, the light trail is a hugely popular festive treat. Building upon the success of previous years, the Illuminated Trail for 2019 is set to be bigger and more spectacular than ever.

Working with world-renowned sculpture artists this year’s trail includes French artistic studio TILT with Lily of the Valley and Australia’s Mandylights, with their iconic Cathedral of Light and magical Laser Garden.

Kirsten Warren, General Manager at Dunham Massey says: “Each year we see the illuminated trail develop with stunning new artist installations alongside returning family-favourites – Cranberry Sparklesnaps our giant deer is a must-see!

Bringing the house and gardens to life with the sights and sounds of Christmas creates such a magical experience – we can’t wait to see the stunning new sculptures light up,” she added.

The trail takes visitors of all ages on a mile-long magical walk where they can also see work from UK based artists including Cristina Ottonello, a specialist in the construction of large-scale temporary installations, whose work Heart Walk features ten x 2.5m high hearts each 1.25m in diameter that appear to float above the heads of visitors as they stroll along.

Cathedral of Light by Mandylights is a real show-stopper of an installation. Its 30m long majestic cathedral window-like structure creating a tunnel of light for visitors to wander through and immerse themselves in sparkle.

The Liverpool Lantern Company will be showcasing Cyclamens, a larger-than-life installation of 50 illuminated flowers creating a carpet of colour-changing blooms.

On the water there will be Lightworks’ Fire Garden made of rings of fire and, bringing the front of Dunham Massey house to life will be the Walking Theatre Company. Their unique brand of ‘walking’ theatre will gently draw audiences into the festive drama, making a fun, interactive and spontaneous event.
