Robert Wilson’s Jungle Book Makes Its UK Premiere at AVIVA Studios

The classic children’s story about humanity and animals is reimagined for all ages with dazzling costumes and set design and an original soundtrack from Coco Rosie.

Visionary theatre director and visual artist Robert Wilson presents his spellbinding stage adaptation of Jungle Book over Easter weekend (28 – 31 March 2024) at Aviva Studios in Manchester. Presented in song and dance, Wilson’s dream-like stage show for all ages tells a familiar tale about humans and animals coexisting in nature amidst looming environmental challenges.

An international ensemble cast breathes life into beloved characters such as Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, and the formidable Shere Khan, with Hathi the Elephant assuming the role of narrator, offering a unique perspective on the classic children’s story.

Wilson’s works for the stage integrate a wide variety of art forms, including dance, movement, lighting, sculpture, music and text. Wilson’s Jungle Book showcases his distinctive colourful aesthetic, combining dazzling costumes, striking shadow play and surreal set pieces with dreamy original live music by CocoRosie.

Co-produced by Factory International, Jungle Book has already wowed audiences in Paris, Florence and Antwerp, before arriving in Manchester for its very first shows in English.

Jungle Book is the latest of Wilson’s reimagined children’s stories, following his acclaimed adaptations of “Peter Pan” (2013) and “Pushkin’s Fairy Tales” (2015).
