HayMax vs Hay Fever

As a seasoned hay fever sufferer who has managed to pass the ailment on to two small children, I have, over the years, tried almost every treatment that various GPs, pharmacists, desperate internet searches and well-intentioned friends have suggested. These have ranged from herbal to pharmaceutical, suspiciously cheap to outrageously expensive, and moderately successful to completely useless.

As time has gone on, I have settled on a rotating schedule of tablets, sprays and ointments for myself and the kids, to which I am constantly making adjustments as I discover exciting new options. To that end, I was delighted to be sent a sample of HayMax Allergen Barrier Balms to review, especially with spring rearing its pollen-infested head.

Before even opening or testing the HayMax Balms, I was pleased to note that they are natural, organic and drug-free. Rather than fighting against an allergic reaction already in progress, the clever HayMax Barrier Balms work by trapping allergens at the point of entry, meaning that your body is much less likely to respond negatively in the first place. Although I’m not averse to some pills every now and then, I’m always happier trying something chemical-free first; there are no irritating side effects to contend with (no more spending the sunniest days of the year in a drowsy haze of confusion!), I don’t have to worry that I’m treating my body, and the much younger ones of my children, like some sort of waste disposal plant, and I’m left with the option of operating all the heavy machinery I might want to.

Hay FeverThe first step was choosing which of the five Balms included in the sample kit to test out. For the children, the decision was easy, as a special Kids HayMax Balm, containing only sunflower oil and beeswax, was provided. This easy to use Balm is suitable for youngsters from birth, and once I had completed the next step and applied it to the rims of their nostrils and eye socket bones as instructed, they quickly forgot it was even there. For myself, the choice was harder, as the remaining samples came with a variety of scents – all of which I was keen to experiment with. In the end, I settled for the Frankincense HayMax Balm, which felt very decadent, and made me think longingly of holidays abroad. This meant I could save the Aloe Vera, Lavender and Pure HayMax Balms for the future, injecting my life with some much needed anticipation.

The final step was to place the Balms in convenient places (such as bedside tables) around the house, ready to apply top-ups as needed. Having initially been sceptical about the claim that just one Balm would last for an entire hay fever season, I quickly found myself converted, as I found that each one contained a surprisingly large volume of product, and that only a very small amount was used up for each application. This meant that even if I wanted to be quite liberal with the HayMax and treat my kids to a top-up every few hours, I didn’t have to worry about running out too quickly.

All in all, I can confidently say that HayMax Allergen Barrier Balms are going to make a very welcome addition to my armoury in the family’s ongoing fight against hay fever. Roll on spring!
