Breakfast time

My daughter, who is 2 and a half now, recently started to engage in much more creative role play and was enjoying making us pretend cups of tea (of course, directing us when it is cool enough to drink, telling us to drink till it’s all gone), so we decided it was time to buy her a tea set. Tea sets are great ways for kids to practice basic motor skills, sharing, and of course imitate and learn good table skills.

We settled on the Dantoy Breakfast Time kit (part of their Green Garden Collection) as it included more than just the tea set itself. It is a lovely 29 piece set made in Denmark and includes a teapot, milk jug, cups (and saucers) but also small tumblers and a Scandinavian style breakfast kit complete with sliced Swiss cheese, bread, a fried egg and frying pan and a salt shaker. We already had a small play kitchen so it has nicely stocked that and she can use the frying pan on the pretend hob (complete with a spatula). The teapot has a removable lid which means she can pretend to fill it from the tap.

We love the colours which are bright and very neutral (green and white) and everything Dantoy produces is made from durable, top grade materials and do not contain PVC or phthalates. It is suitable for ages 2 and above.

It has certainly become a nice addition to our playtime routine and we have even used the tumblers and cutlery for actual drinks/eating when we ran short! I am sure it is a toy which will have use for many years to come and we can keep it for when baby number 2 is old enough to join in.

Dantoy has been developing and manufacturing quality toys in Denmark for more than 50 years, which makes the company one of the biggest manufacturers of plastic toys in the Nordic countries. All Dantoy role-play products are approved for contact with food, and they are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Dantoy Green Garden Breakfast For 2 can be bought from a range of online and offline retailers. Currently available from Amazon at £21.55

My 2 love concocting special foods for me from their play kitchens.Only downside is when they want to start using real foods and you have to try a bit haha x

Isn’t it interesting that when children play with a tea set such as this they don’t think it’s strange that we teach them how to use a milk jug, sugar bowl, etc…when in reality it’s ‘stick a teabag in a cup and pour water over it’.

  • This looks lovely, my 3 year old daughter is currently enjoying making pretend food, she also won’t take no for an answer, if she gives you something to eat you have to eat it 😅
