Brand New Reception Classroom – Set for Spring!

Top independent primary, Greenbank Preparatory School and Day Nursery in Cheadle Hulme, is not an organisation that can be accused of being behind the times. In fact, over the last few years, they have been change pioneers, making huge advancements in technology, education and wellbeing. Their dedication to providing the best possible education for their children has seen them recently embark on their biggest project to date: a brand new, state of the art Reception classroom.

Greenbank’s buildings are maintained to the highest possible standard, but Headteacher Malcolm Johnson felt that a new build would provide a fresh new look at Early Years education. “Reception is a time where the learning needs to be incredibly vibrant and diverse. We need to provide all of that and more for our learners in order for them to have the best start in the main school. Our new build, with areas for specialised play, study and social time will cater for the needs of all learners and give them an environment that will be excited to learn in every day.”

Work is now well underway, with the structure firmly in place and the intricate details of the build now beginning to be brought to life. A hangar space is being created for storage and for the children to use for social time during adverse weather conditions. There are also specific areas for water play and explorative play, as well as cosy, quiet areas for self-study when children feel like they need some peace to concentrate. The many shaped windows in the classroom provide both light and interest for the children, and Greenbank’s dedication to the eco cause has been inherent in the design of the new build. ‘Fabric First’ insulation, LED dimmable lighting and eco-friendly underfloor heating are just some of the features which make the new classroom one of the leaders in the eco-design field.

The new build will be ready to welcome its new inhabitants in Spring 2022 and will continue to delight and engage children for many years to come.
