Greenbank Prep School: Life Beyond Curriculum

At Greenbank, our recent assessment results have shown a pleasing amount of progress for our children academically. However, it doesn’t end there! As you will no doubt read in the press, it is the wider aspects of life which have suffered most over the last 15 months.

Since lockdown, we have been delighted to welcome our pupils back to school and have worked hard to offer as many different opportunities as possible outside of the core curriculum. That means building Lego towers, debating, playing team sports like football, netball, cricket, rounders, and lacrosse. Art and crafts have played an important role in developing the minds, imagination, and skills of our young people.

Offering as many different opportunities as possible helps children to find their “thing”. Something they enjoy, something they feel they are good at and can help others with. This provides a huge boost to their confidence and develops those “soft” skills so important for a fulfilled and happy life in and beyond school.

Let children explore the woods (our Forest School area provides the perfect opportunity for this but any woods will do) let them interact, communicate and negotiate, let them use their imagination, be curious and ask questions. This will develop our children’s skills and, importantly, support their own wellbeing, something always at the heart of Greenbank.
