Wilmslow Prep pupils share the joy of music with Long Stone Manor residents
Pupils from Wilmslow Preparatory School’s Prep 6 class recently delighted residents at Long Stone Manor Care Home with a special musical performance featuring a varied programme of songs and instrumental pieces.
Music is a valued part of life at Wilmslow Preparatory School, with pupils given many opportunities to develop their musical abilities through lessons, concerts, competitions and festivals all year round.
The visit to Long Stone Manor offered a meaningful opportunity for pupils to put these skills into practice while creating a memorable experience for residents.
Located close to the School, Long Stone Manor Care Home provided the perfect setting for this intergenerational community-focused event, bringing together pupils and residents through the shared enjoyment of music.
The children took great pride in showcasing their musical talents, while residents warmly welcomed both the performance and the opportunity to spend time with the younger generation. Events such as these help strengthen connections across the local community and create lasting memories for everyone involved.
Reflecting on the visit, Headteacher of the School Bradley Lavagna-Slater commented: “Music is an integral part of life at Wilmslow Prep School and is celebrated across all areas of School life. The visit created a shared joy for both pupils and residents which was wonderful to see.
“It also demonstrated the value of creating opportunities that bring generations together through performance and creativity”.
