Popular Foodies Festival returns with celebrity acts on the menu

THE UK’s biggest celebration of food and drink has set a date to return with a mouth-watering line-up of star chefs and major live music acts.

The hugely popular Foodies Festival, which attracts more than 25,000 visitors to each of its three-day events, is heading to nine UK venues – Brighton, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Cambridge, Cheshire, Edinburgh, Oxford and Southampton – for a feast of family fun between May and August.

For the second year running, the festival will play host to a live music stage featuring performances from headline act Scouting for Girls and boy band power group Boyzlife, comprising Westlife’s Brian McFadden and Boyzone’s Keith Duffy.

Brian McFadden said: “Keith Duffy and I are delighted to bring our Boyzlife tour to Foodies Festival, where we’ll be performing many of our favourite Boyzone and Westlife hits. It’s a perfect day out – wonderful food, summer sun and music everybody knows and loves.”

We’re so proud to be headline the Musicians Against Homelessness stage in support of Crisis, the national charity for homeless people. Homelessness is a growing problem all over the UK and every penny raised helps save lives. We are looking forward to seeing many of our fans out there.”

Former Brighton bank manager Kenny met tens of thousands of fans as last year’s headline chef – and he’s delighted to be returning to the demonstration stage.

He said: “I had a great time travelling up and down the country to get on stage at the brilliant Foodies Festivals last year, so it goes without saying, that I’m excited to be back this May on my home turf of Brighton! I’m also opening my first restaurant, PITCH, just around the corner in Worthing in May, so I’ll be giving everyone a taste of what’s to come there.”

Simon Rimmer, Channel 4's Sunday Brunch presenterThis year Foodies Festival welcomes TV star and Sunday Brunch presenter Simon Rimmer to share his culinary genius with visitors to the UK’s biggest food and drink festival.

Simon will demonstrate cooking skills that have made him a household name in the Hoover Theatre showcasing the company’s Vogue range of built-in cooking appliances.

Headliner Chef, Simon Rimmer, Host of C4’s Sunday Brunch, commented: “Foodies Festival has really made its name as the UK’s best food and drink festival and I’m very excited to be joining this year’s line-up of exceptionally talented chefs in what’s set to be the best summer series of festivals yet.”

Simon will be among a galaxy of stars appearing at Foodies Festival 2019. Among them will be MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt, Celebrity MasterChef winner John Partridge, Great British Menu winner Richard Bainbridge as well as an array of Great British Bake-Off champions and top chefs drawn from each local area.

The 2019 Foodies Festival promises to be its biggest yet with the nine UK venues boasting more than 200 exhibitors and award-winning artisan producers, a Street Food Village, Cakes and Desserts Theatre, Healthy Living Area, Chef’s Theatre, Vegan Beer Tent and Food and Drink masterclasses. This year kids will enjoy brand new extended Kids Zone with a Kids Cookery School, Kids Cookery theatre, slime challenge and brand new Dog Arena.

The events will once again highlight the plight of homeless people. Supported by Musicians Against Homelessness, the live music stage will see a mix of headline acts as well as talented emerging bands and solo artists perform.

Tickets will help raise cash for the UK-wide homelessness charity Crisis. For every ticket sold, the festival will make a donation to the cause. There will also be merchandise on sale giving a further boost to funds.

Festival director Sue Hitchen said: “This year’s festival once again combines our two favourite things, music and food, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. We’ve made sure our visitors get the best in terms of star chefs and music acts, and this will create a brilliant weekend for all the family.

Festival-goers will be able to picnic on the grass with friends and soak in the atmosphere with live music from the local bands. They will be able to sing and dance into the night with a host of live music acts performing on the Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH) stage, including chart-toppers Scouting for Girls, Boyzlife, Neville Staple Band featuring the legendary frontman of The Specials, and leading Queen tribute act Flash.
