JBuddies Studio Wireless Headset

If there’s one thing that my wife Alena finds annoying about our house it’s the kids’ tablets playing in one room at the same time, especially if she’s trying to watch the news!

So over the years we’ve invested in a number of different sets of headphones, but they’ve always been too tight, or too heavy, or after a few months of heavy use the kids somehow manage to damage the wires or get them so tangled up that it takes an hour to unravel them again.

So when we were offered a pair of JBuddies Studio wireless kids headphones to try out I jumped at the chance to ditch the wires and move into the 21st Century.

Girl with wireless head setThe first thing you notice about the JBuddies Studio wireless headsets is that they aren’t too childish, but instead come in a couple of cool colours – purple and blue – that look great on both younger and older children. We were sent a purple set, which seven-year-old Ella immediately claimed for herself – but fear not dear reader, we do plan to order a blue set for nine year old Harrison too, after he also fell in love with the headphones.

But enough about the aesthetics, what about the sound? Well they sound great for the price (£29.99 in John Lewis, Currys, Argos, and Amazon) and there’s no point investing in anything too high fidelity for younger kids anyway, in my opinion. What I really do like about the JBuddies Studio headsets though is that they are restricted to safe volume levels (85dB) which is particularly important for our son Harrison who has a tendency to turn the volume on full when he’s listening to music or gaming on his headsets. It’s really hard to stop him doing this so I was delighted about this feature as I’m reassured that he’s not going to be damaging his hearing. It will hopefully help when shouting him for his dinner too!

Another great feature is that the headsets have auxiliary sockets on each side, so that if your child wants you to listen along with them you can simply plug any wired earphones or headphones into them and listen together. This is also a really nice feature if your children wanted to watch a movie together in the car or on a plane or train without distracting other passengers.

Comfort wise, the headphones are perfect for smaller heads. They’re not too tight or heavy, which can be an issue with headphones we’ve had in the past, and they’re nicely cushioned. Both our children have tried the sets for extended periods, with no discomfort whatsoever.

And speaking of extended periods, the JBuddies Studio headset is reported to have a massive 24 hours battery life after a full charge, and if that’s not long enough you can always use them in wired mode when the battery goes flat, which is great because there’s only one thing our children are more likely to do than tangle wires on wired headphone, and that’s forget to charge wireless ones!

Our verdict 10/10.
Both kids loved the JBuddies and it’s like a silent disco in our house at the moment! I love them too because I’m reassured that the volume is at a safe level.
