Welcome to the Spring 2022 Edition!

Spring is in the air. And the Spring-2022 edition of M&D Magazine is out.

With the Covid situation coming under control, and the rivers back in their banks after three storms in a row this February, we can start planning our lives, our holidays and our travel. Whether you’re going abroad or to Alton Towers, and whether you’re getting there by plane, boat, or bike – we have articles in this edition to make your journey fun (or so we hope). And if you’re not venturing far from home, there is still plenty to do: from an abundance of family shows during the holiday and beyond, to a multitude of Easter events, and a smorgasbord of fun-filled options to enjoy on Mother’s Day.

The world is moving fast these days. Too fast. At the time we were gathering articles for this magazine, the ‘back to normality’ feeling was refreshing and overwhelming. By the time we were going to print, a full blown war had started on the borders of Europe, something that we thought was impossible, something that looks and feels like a horror movie. And yet, it’s real.

So this Mother’s Day, let’s spare a thought for those mothers who are fleeing their homes trying to save their children, and for those who are waiting for their children to come back from the war, and for those who will never see their children again… Let’s hope that this fast moving world will come to its senses. Let’s do what we can to make it sane before it’s too late.

According to Disasters Emergency Committee, 4 million people are expected to be displaced due to the conflict in Ukraine, and 7.5 million children are now at risk, according to Unicef. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has called it the fastest-growing refugee crisis in Europe since World War Two.
If you want to help people fleeing the war, donations (including money, clothes, food and other everyday items) are being welcomed in many places from British Red Cross www.redcross.org.uk and Unicef www.unicef.org.uk to Kids Allowed Day Nursery in Knutsford or in Chorlton, and Bee House Bar in Deansgate Locks, Manchester.
